Recap 2024 - A year full of milestones!

23.12.2024
from Marie Gröller

The year 2024 was one of the most significant years for Gröller Hospitality. With two unique hotels - Das Traunsee and Post am See - we can look back on a year full of challenges, highlights and unforgettable moments. Here we share the most important events that have shaped us in recent months.

Winter to spring: 50% open, 50% closed.

During the winter months until May 2024, only Das Traunsee was open for our guests. At the same time, extensive renovation work took place at the Hotel Post am See. It was an intense time, characterised by the anticipation of what was to come, but also by the challenge of mastering both projects in parallel. Our team at Das Traunsee ensured that our guests enjoyed a first-class stay while the work at the Post am See was in full swing.

May: Soft opening of the Post am See under special circumstances

In May, we celebrated the soft opening of the Post am See. An exciting but also challenging phase began: While the first guests were already enjoying their stays, there was still a building site atmosphere behind the scenes. Together as a team, we overcame these challenges and worked step by step to make our guests' stay as pleasant as possible.

June: The Belétage - a highlight of the year

The opening of the Belétage in mid-June was a special milestone. This jewel of our hotel was not only enthusiastically received by our guests, but also recognised by the experts. We are proud that the Belétage is one of Gault & Millau 's New Openings of the Year 2024 and that the Belétage bar was also recognised as New Opening of the Year in the Falstaff Bar Guide 2025. Behind this success is a strong team that has worked on this project with great passion and a shared vision.

August: Full operation at the Post am See

In August, we were finally able to open the 21 new rooms and the Rooftop BergSPA at the Post am See to our guests. However, there were a few hurdles to overcome before then - but thanks to the tireless efforts of our team, we were able to overcome every setback and present a hotel that delights our guests from top to bottom.

Sustainability as a forward-looking concept

In August, Das Traunsee was awarded the Tourism Ecolabel. This is a significant recognition of our efforts to provide sustainable hospitality.

The reopening of the Post am See was not only an architectural and culinary highlight, but also an important step towards sustainability. With a total investment of 18 million euros, we have fundamentally modernised the hotel, with a third of the funds going towards sustainable technologies and improvements to the staff areas (social rooms, guest lounges, load list, etc.), which remain invisible to the guest. We are particularly proud of the decision to heat and cool the hotel with a lake water heat pump. These investments are a decisive contribution to a more sustainable future.

September: Danger of flooding and ORF Summer Talks at Lake Traunsee

Nature showed us once again in September that it has the last word, and Austria was hit by a flood with serious consequences. Lake Traunsee was also affected, but fortunately we were largely spared. This event taught us once again how important it is to be prepared for sudden challenges and to stand together as a team.

Another highlight in September was the ORF Summer Talks, which took place on the terrace of Das Traunsee. The candidates for Federal Chancellor were presented here - an event that not only led to political debates, but also created an exciting atmosphere in our hotel.

October: Official Grand Opening of the Post am See

On 18 October, we celebrated the official grand opening of the Post am See. On this special occasion, we were able to welcome long-standing companions, partners and friends. It was an unforgettable evening that duly honoured the months of hard work put in by our team.

November: Top performances and awards

November was a month of successes and accolades. Our sommelière Katharina Gnigler was honoured as Sommelière of the Year 2025 in the Gault & Millau Guide. But that's not all: our culinary concepts were also recognised by the experts:

  • The Bootshaus defended its impressive 18.5 points and 4 toques.
  • The Poststube was awarded 14 points and 2 toques.
  • The Belétage was assessed for the first time and achieved 14.5 points and 2 toques.

These successes are a further sign of the dedication and talent of our employees.

Another highlight in November was the provincial governors' conference, which took place in the newly renovated Post am See. We were proud to host this important political exchange on our premises.

Looking ahead together

Another milestone this year was the growth of our team: for the first time, we counted more than 170 employees in our Gröller Hospitality family in the summer. We are particularly proud of this, as this growth reflects our continuous development and our commitment to providing excellent hospitality.

2024 has shown us what we can achieve together when we support each other and work towards our goals with passion and commitment. The Gröller family and our entire team stand for hospitality, excellence and unique experiences in an unrivalled setting. We would like to thank our entire team and our guests who have accompanied us on this journey.

Looking ahead to 2025, we would like to reveal that a lot of love will go into the design of the outdoor areas at Das Traunsee next spring. The beach area in particular will be redesigned and presented to our guests in fresh splendour in summer 2025.

We are looking forward to a new year full of exciting challenges and to welcoming you back to our hotels in 2025!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year,
Gröller family & team
